About van Uden Logistics

Van Uden Logistics specialises in logistics of food, wines and spirits. Service is built around Van Uden’s own storage and distribution centres and an extensive truck fleet. Logistic services are divided in three categories: warehousing, distribution and transport. Van Uden operates five major distribution centres, strategically located, covering an overall area of over 100,000 m². All necessary services are offered here: storage, stock management, order picking and repacking and labelling of goods. In addition, Van Uden disposes of a fleet of 200 trucks, consisting mainly of (isothermal) trailers, Taut-liners and containers.

Project Scope

Together, Quintiq and Van Uden will develop a real-time multi-user planning system which gives each planner a complete overview of all relevant processes. The system calculates the effectiveness and consequences of every planning action. Each person involved in the planning process is constantly informed of those consequences. In addition, the costs, advantages, distances and load distribution per planning modification are directly visible to each planner. A central planning system will optimize and adjust the handling of cargo. Key element in adjusting the planning is the company’s objective to use the five Dutch warehouses as effectively as possible.
